Biography

Despite growing up as New York Mets fan (I was born and raised in New Jersey) as you can undoubtedly tell, I'm a huge SF Giants fan. I was there when they won the west in 2010 with Jonathon Sanchez on the mound, and, after stressing through every single pitch of "torture" through the playoffs, I was there on Market Street for that first World Series parade. Of course, since then, there have been two more.

I love everything about baseball. The slow, deliberate pace, the warmth of the sun and the smell of hot dogs, and the psychological dance of the pitcher and batter. After the rainy winter months, there's nothing I look forward to more each Spring than the sound of Kruk, Kuip, Miller and Fleming on the radio and the sweet sounds of spring training, letting me know that the baseball season (and summer) is right around the corner.

I teach at Sonoma State, SRJC and CSULB. At SSU I teach in multiple departments as well, (Psychology, Sociology and Human Development) thanks to the breadth of the degree in Social Work. At SRJC, I teach in the Psychology and Counseling departments. At CSULB I teach the fieldwork seminar for graduate students in Social Work.

I have had a long career in applied psychology; in private practice and in various non profit organizations in Marin and Mendocino counties. I've worked with children, adolescents, adults and families, in schools and community agencies as a therapist, social worker, clinical program manager and supervisor. I most recently served as the Clinical Director of Homeward Bound of Marin, an organization dedicated to addressing the issues of homelessness in Marin County.

In December of 2019, I published my first book, a memoir entitled The Cardinal Club: A Daughter's Journey to Acceptance. I'm working on a second book about my walk of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela which is scheduled to be published in November of 2021. I'm an avid sports fan, love to cook, write and travel and I'm the proud mother of two young men.
