Declare Psychology as your Major

Due to the major's impacted status, students can only apply to the psychology major during the first three weeks of each semester. The application period is now Open. 

The application period opened on Thursday, January 16th and will be open for the first three weeks of the Spring 2025 semester. Applications will remain open until Tuesday, February 11th at 11:59 PM. 

After this date, the next opportunity to apply will be in the Fall 2025 semester.

No applications for Spring 2025 will be reviewed until after the application window has closed on Tuesday, February 11th. 

Students will be notified of their acceptance via email a few weeks after that date. Students who are accepted to the major will have to submit an official Change of Major form before the first week of registration for Fall 2025 begins (April 14-18).

In general, the application asks students to verify that they meet the major's three impaction criteria:

• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
• Completion of at least 45 units (in-progress does not count)
• Completion of PSY 250 or equivalent course with a "C" or better

All the criteria must be met at the time of application.
